December Rehearsals

It was thrilling. 15 hours of intensive rehearsal and arranging sessions at Temple Emanu-El have finished. I am too exhilarated to be fatigued.

There were seven of us musicians in total over three days, plus Carlos who visited with his camera.  Everybody was superb in their contributions and enthusiasm for the project. Many breaks, much snacking and truly moving music was made. I recorded each of the nine tunes that are being worked on so far on my hand recorder (Edirol) and am transferring tracks to the computer to listen and analyse for how the recording process will unfold.

Much gratitude to the core team of Aaron Lightstone, Ernie Tollar and Josh Engel. A special shout out to the two new percussionists who joined us: old friend Rakesh Tewari and new friend Naghmeh Farahmand. And another new treat was Sunday with Joel Schwartz on electric guitar and resonator. All three quickly have become integral parts of the sound of this album making it an ensemble of seven.
